The Villainous Noblewoman Is About to Be Forced into Love, Isn't This Wrong?

Chapter 39

Chapter 39

Liana had no idea that she had been under the surveillance of a certain Judge for an entire month. She walked along the corridor leading back to her room.

She took a deep breath.

This was probably the best choice she could make. Whether the truth would come to light now depended on Mepeilu herself.

In the original story, Mepeilu had acted recklessly because of Liana more than once.

Liana didn’t want to see such a good girl end up in danger because of her.@@@@

That was why she didn’t want to tell Mepeilu the truth directly. She wanted Mepeilu to uncover it herself—to slowly search for it, to slowly give herself time to accept it, to be able to calm down and think.

Besides, Countess Ruth had seen the scene of her leaving just now.

She would probably loosen her guard against Liana, at least for a little while. That was a good thing, right?

As Liana walked toward her room, she saw Nair standing not far from her door.

"Nair?"

"Eh?! Liana?!" Nair, who had been waiting at Liana’s door, looked utterly shocked to see her returning from outside. She rubbed her eyes. "Weren’t you just inside your room? I never saw you leave!"

"Hmm?" Liana, already feeling irritated, found herself presented with the perfect target.

Now she had more than enough reason to kick Nair out.

"Were you spying on me?" Liana asked coldly.

"Of course not," Nair replied with an awkward smile.

"You really think I’m stupid?" Liana’s voice turned icy. "You’ve been stopping me, following me, interfering with me—what exactly are you trying to do?"

"No, Liana, this is really just a misunderstanding." Nair tried to explain. "I just happened to be passing by. I wasn’t watching you."

"So? What does that have to do with you watching me?" Liana pressed.

Nair was getting fed up. Was this idiot really going to make her spell everything out? Had she not hinted at it enough?

"If you don’t have a reasonable explanation, then even if you’re the daughter of Viscount Ent, spying on me is going to cost you a great deal."

If Liana wanted her to say it out loud, then fine—she’d say it. After all, from an outsider’s perspective, she hadn’t done anything wrong.

"Alright, since you’re so eager to know, I’ll just be straightforward." Nair cleared her throat and deliberately raised her voice, making sure that others nearby would hear. That way, more people would take notice and ensure her safety.

"Since it’s been a year since Princess Mepeilu last visited the Venus estate, and with Young Master Kain and Lady Eileen back as well, I thought—" Nair hesitated for a moment. She had already failed her task, so mentioning Ruth’s name now would be nothing short of suicide.

"As your friend, I just didn’t want to see the same things happen again. I didn’t want any unpleasant incidents to ruin such a joyous occasion."

"Wow, how touching. You really are such a noble person." Liana smiled at Nair.

A chill ran down Nair’s spine.

"Are you moved by yourself? Do you think you’ve done something truly great?" Liana clapped her hands together. "How dull."

"You seem to have misunderstood something. Mepeilu is here because of me. What gives you the right to say these things? If it weren’t for me, would you even have the chance to see Mepeilu?"

Liana didn’t hold back at all, and Nair could no longer hide her irritation. "Liana, don’t go too far."

"Oh? Getting mad, are we? What are you going to do about it?" Liana stepped closer to Nair. "Am I not speaking the truth? What’s so ‘too far’ about it?"

"Alright then, let’s settle this. You’re a servant who has been spying on me." Liana reached out her hand toward Nair, but Nair grabbed her wrist.

"Let go."

"I can’t let you keep doing this!" Nair declared righteously.

"If you don’t let go, there will be serious consequences," Liana warned.
