Yao Ran sat down across from Long Yu and pulled out three meal boxes and three bowls of chicken soup from her space. Setting the food on the table, she said, "The temperature keeps dropping, but I think the chaos will only worsen after today."
As they ate, shrill screams echoed from the distance again. The three exchanged looks and put down their chopsticks.
While Shi Xuan controlled the drone to investigate the source of the screams, Long Yu and Yao Ran went to the second-floor balcony. From there, they spotted countless torches
approaching the villa's outer district.
"They are coming back," Long Yu said grimly.
Returning to the living room, Long Yu and Yao Ran quickly put on their bulletproof vests and night vision goggles before heading to the rooftop.
Below them, waves of people surged forward like a relentless tide. Armed with knives, guns, iron bars, and makeshift weapons, they charged toward the villa's barricades.
Through her night vision binoculars, Yao Ran watched as the guards and soldiers tried to repel them. However, the attackers significantly outnumbered them.
Shouts, screams, and wails filled the frigid night air, creating a scene straight out of a nightmare.
Despite the temperature dropping below minus ten degrees Celsius and the attackers' lack of proper clothing, they continued their assault with unrelenting spirit.
When those people breached the barricades and directly headed toward the central district, Yao Ran sneered and said, "They have chosen their target well."
Long Yu nodded. "They must have been watching us all day. Breaking through the barricades this quickly means they have studied the patrol schedules and formations."@@@@
Yao Ran agreed, her gaze fixed on the chaos in the distance.
As they spoke, those people shattered the second line of defense and stormed into the central district.
A few of them were ability users who were utilizing their abilities to destroy the wall and power grids.
Fortunately, most only possessed level-zero abilities, which were not very effective in combat. Coupled with their malnourished and deformed bodies, these ability users couldn't even unleash half their full potential.
On the rooftop, Yao Ran calmly observed them for a moment before taking out a handmade bomb Jia Xiang had crafted in the past. She lit the fuse and threw it down.
Since the rioters had smashed the street lamps and light bulbs during their morning attack, there were no light sources except for the torches held by the gang members. This allowed Yao Ran's bomb to go unnoticed.
The moment the bomb hit the ground, it exploded.

The explosion killed more than half of the gang members down there and injured the rest. Seeing this, Yao Ran couldn't help but give Jia Xiang a thumbs-up in her mind. She murmured, "Sister Jia's bombs are still as impressive as ever."
Long Yu nodded in agreement. "Mhm. I heard from Huang Qian that Jia Xiang made quite a few explosives to deal with the deformed monsters earlier. I bet when we get back, she will fill the warehouse with even more explosives."
While the two chatted calmly about Jia Xiang's explosives, the gang members below were panicking. Those who survived the blast decided to retreat, dragging their heavily injured
comrades away.
As the gang members left her villa entrance, Yao Ran used binoculars to scan the area. Meanwhile, Long Yu grabbed his walkie-talkie and asked, "A Xuan, how is the situation in the outer district?"
A moment later, Shi Xuan's voice crackled through the device. "I saw Li Tianyu heading this way. It seems Commander Xu managed to force Du Zhaoyi into deploying his soldiers." "Good. With the Second Army's help, the situation should be under control in no time," Long Yu replied.
Just as he finished speaking, the wail of sirens pierced the darkness. Yao Ran looked into the distance and said, "They are here."
Hearing the sirens, the gang members quickly retreated. Meanwhile, the looters who had been robbing supplies scrambled to grab what they could and fled like scattered sand.
Unlike the gang members, who climbed walls to escape, the looters could only run through the entrance gate since their hands were full of stolen goods. Before they could assess the situation, they were blinded by countless bright lights.
