Chapter 364 Tsukiji's Last Effort! (II)
"YOSSHAAAAA!" The roar coming from Michael Wang was so pure and adulterated as the Chinese boy managed to get one point from his block. He then turned around to his teammates who stared at him in disbelief before his eyes shining brightly. "I got this, Senpai! Don't worry, we still can do this!"
Even though not a single person knew what Michael Wang said – he talked too fast in English – all the Tsukiji supporters on the stand still gave the boy a warm welcome for his bold statement.@@@@
"Good job, Wang! This is it!"
"That is how Tsukiji players should act, not just being a pussy and giving up before everything is over!"
"Yes! You will be our future captain, Wang!"
Michael Wang couldn't help but grin widely as he kept hearing his name resounding from the crowd. Even though it was just a normal block, which only resulted in one normal point, for him and the rest of Tsukiji's supporters, this wasn't just an ordinary point.
After hitting a brick wall in the last couple of minutes, Michael Wang's block was like an oasis in the middle of a desert. This gave them all a glimpse of hope that this team still had a chance to compete in this game, and if somehow the rest of the players couldn't capitalize on this chance since they were too cowardly to fight back, at least they were glad that the team's future captain was a competitive person like Michael Wang. With their future secured in the right hand, at least even though they didn't win the game, they still had something to celebrate.
However, Michael Wang had a different thought.
He didn't know that most of the supporters had already thought about the future, and honestly, he didn't care about it. For now, the game was far more important for him, and he didn't want to go down so easily without putting up a good fight.
"Come on, everyone! I cannot hear your voice!" Michael Wang waved his hand excitedly, wanting to lift up the mood on the stand. He didn't have to do that twice, as most of them rose from their seat and started chanting loudly.
"COME ON, TSUKIJI! COME ON, MICHAEL WANG!"
"THIS IS YOUR TIME HERE! DESTROY THEM ALL!"
"Just when we are about to win, why?!" Ogawa moaned weakly, cursing his luck.
However, it seemed Yuki had a different opinion here. "I don't think we need to be wary too much about his spin serve, Senpai." His bold statement made all the heads around him snap.
"You've seen the same thing as we did, right? How could you say we don't need to worry about it?" Asahi asked incredulously.
"Well, for one reason, if he has that, he would just use it since the beginning or when their situation wasn't this bad," Yuki answered calmly. "That serve is strong and troublesome, but the fact that he did it when we were only four points away from winning the game makes me think that there should be a reason why he didn't dare to use it before, and the only thing I can think of is because he still hasn't mastered this serve. So, even if he managed to score one or two from the serve, he wouldn't be able to do it constantly."
All the Tsunemori players looked at each other before they shrugged. If their defensive anchor said they didn't need to worry about it, who were they to question his decision? If anything, they were glad that Yuki said that, since if anything went wrong, the responsibility wouldn't be on them.
True to Yuki's words, though, Michael Wang failed to reproduce the serve at the same caliber as he did before. This time, the ball was entangled in between his fingers, and as a result, instead of sending a powerful topspin serve, the ball dropped instantly before it could cross the court, hitting the net with a loud 'Splash'.
"Oh, what a bad luck!"
"Don't worry, Wang! There is still another chance later!"
"Yeah! You did a good job!"
All the Tsukiji supporters voiced their support immediately, wanting to reassure Michael Wang that they didn't mind the failure. As for Michael Wang himself, although the failure was embarrassing, he shrugged it off nonchalantly, knowing that the two points he contributed from the strong block and a powerful serve before had already achieved what he wanted; raising the team's morale. Now that everyone regained their spirit once again, even though it would be difficult to chase the score while not letting the opponent reach 25 points first, at least they would still have a chance here.
Or... So that was what he thought.
Unfortunately, it seemed the God of luck was not on their side today, as when Tsunemori was only three points away, the one who walked through the service line himself was Tsunemori's deadliest executor, the team's anchor, Yuki. Enjoy new adventures at My Virtual Library Empire
