Chapter 41: Snatching the artefact

Bai Meiyue was stunned when she received the notification. She raised her head and looked up at the blue screen in front of her and surprise flashed in her eyes.

Good guy!

She thought that the barter system was already a great golden finger that she had received from the heavens but she never thought that there was actually a chance to upgrade it.

However, she only showed surprise for a few seconds before returning to normal. She did not wish for Lu Ling to sense something amiss.

"Here," Lu Ling didn’t notice any fluctuations in Bai Meiyue and turned to look at her. "Like you asked me, I have brought you the promised set of rifles, guns, machine guns, X-bows, and—"@@@@

He continued to list the items and Bai Meiyue continued to carefully open the boxes that were placed inside the warehouse.

And while Lu Ling was counting off the items off the lists, she took advantage of his lack of attention and sneakily pushed the boxes with the ancient artefacts inside the small space ring before straightening up.

"There you go." Lu Ling threw the list that Bai Meiyue had given to him right in front of her feet and said to her, "I have held my side of the bargain. Now it’s your turn."

"Sure," Bai Meiyue smiled as she threw a pill to Lu Ling and said to him, "This is your first set of antidote."

"First set?" Lu Ling, who caught the pill in his hands, squeaked and looked at Bai Meiyue in shock. "What do you mean by first set?"

"There is no need to look so shocked, CEO Lu," Bai Meiyue sneered as she stated in a cold voice, "It’s just as I said: you need to take this antidote for the next four months or else your condition will only get worse."

"You—" Lu Ling felt his head buzz. He stepped forward and shouted at Bai Meiyue, "You dare cheat me?"

After the end of the world, getting injured would become a norm and these medicines would come in handy at such times. Though supernatural beings wouldn’t get injured and sick easily with their speedy healing ability, what about ordinary people like her mother?

Bai Meiyue had no idea if her mother awakened or not because she died before that.

She then went to the small farmhouse and bought a number of livestock. Though buying pigs was out of the question, she could still raise chickens, geese, and ducks in one of the rooms of her penthouse.

After that she purchased various drinks, gasoline, and some other important things.

She was about to drive back home when she raised her head and looked at the darkened sky. Her eyes flashed with worry when she saw the rumbling clouds; this didn’t happen in her last life.

Bai Meiyue hurried back home; however, as soon as she entered the house, she saw her mother sitting on the couch with an angry look on her face and from her red eyes, it was clear that she had cried.

"Mom?"

"Do you still know how to call out Mom?" Bai Meiyue heard her mother question her angrily. "Chen Yuya, I will take care of that girl and that Bai Xue. Even though that girl is in prison, we still need to make sure that the girl would never be able to come out and that Chen Yuya, we need to sue her. How dare she join her hand with Bai Xue and drug you?"

As she spoke, she glared at Bai Meiyue and then said to her, "You still pretended as if nothing had happened. I know that girls need to protect themselves, but when such a thing happens, then you need to boldly accuse the culprit or else you will only embolden such people."

"You have been bullied to this point; what is the point in hiding? How can you watch the one who ruined your life walk so freely!?"

As Yan Wanning continued to scold Bai Meiyue, she suddenly burst into tears, "My poor daughter—wuwuwu—she was bullied like this—how can they—wuwuwu—how can they hurt you like this—wuuuuu—What are you going to do now? Who will marry you—wuwuwuuu—this matter is now known to everyone—"
