Chapter 55 Life Long Enemy
Chapter 55 Life Long Enemy
Out of the four Thunderfall City Family Ancestors, Jie Deng was the most knowledgeable and well-traveled.
When Chu Wen and Song Liang heard Zhang Ju's words, they scoffed.
"Zhang Ju, have you finally gone senile? Haah, what a pity. Don't worry, I will properly take care of your sons for you," Chu Wen jeered.
"Ancestor Ju, I never knew you were quite the joker," Song Liang said with a fake laugh.
Obviously, they did not believe Zhang Ju's statement. How could a Mage create a red cloud that enshrouded an entire city that was five miles in length?
Despite their ridicule, Zhang Ju did not become angry; he simply waited for Ancestor Jie's words.
However, Jie Deng frowned and pondered.
A few seconds later, with his knees touching the floor and his head raised up to the red cloud as though he was being forced to worship the phenomenon, Jie Deng answered unconfidently, "It is hard to say. Who is to say a Mana God Realm Mage cannot create something of this size and power? We are just too weak to know the bigger world."
After hearing Jie Deng's words, Zhang Ju frowned, seemingly in thought, while Chu Wen and Song Liang were shocked upon hearing Jie Deng's words. They had completely forgotten that despite being hailed as the strongest Mages in Thunderfall City, they were pitifully weak in the grand scheme of things.
Chu Wen and Song Liang exchanged worried glances out of the corner of their eyes. They did not want to die. They enjoyed lording over a city and its residents. Their fear, admiration, envy, and jealousy made them excited. But now... the illusion they had created shattered like a mirror into pieces.
They were once again reminded that outside of their illusion, they were nothing, not even comparable to ants. They felt bitter and soon dreadful.
A minute of silence later, Jie Deng nonchalantly continued, "The world is vast, filled with powers far beyond our wildest imagination. It is not wise to dismiss what we do not understand."
Unbeknownst to the other three Ancestors, when Jie Deng spoke, a flicker of sadness appeared in his green eyes before disappearing.
If the residents of Thunderfall City were to witness the scene of Chu Wen and Song Liang crying, they would be shocked to death. For them, Ancestor Chu and Ancestor Song were god-like existences, yet their former prideful and arrogant demeanors were long gone.
While Chu Wen and Song Liang were afraid of dying, Zhang Ju and Jie Deng were relatively calm. As the two oldest out of the four Thunderfall City Family Ancestors, they had already prepared for their eventual deaths. They were well aware with their talents, it was impossible for them to progress further and increase their life spans. It was depressing, but life was not fair.
As if emphasizing that life was not fair, the arcs of lightning within the gigantic red cloud increased and crackled with a terrifying power.
*Tzzt*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
Suddenly, red bolts of lightning fell down like a torrential rainfall.
"NOOOOO! SOMEONE SAVE ME! PLEASE! I'LL GIVE YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT! JUST SAVE ME!"
"ANCESTOR SONG, WHERE IS THE ANCESTOR!?
"ANCESTORS SAVE US!"
As the red bolts of lightning fell, the screams of the city's residents resounded, yet they were muffled by the terrifying lightning.
However, even if the four Family Ancestors could hear them, they were in no position to save them.
Jie Deng sighed and then closed his eyes, not before muttering, "Let's make an oath that if one of us manages to survive, they will not destroy the other families."
