Long Yu shook his head, "No. I suspect this situation isn't natural."
Hearing his response, Yao Ran asked, "You mean... this is man-made?"
Long Yu nodded at her question and replied, "There is this possibility, but we cannot rule out that certain factors in nature cause it."
Yao Ran frowned and questioned further, "Is it even possible for this to be man-made?"
"There is nothing impossible in this world. It's just that we haven't seen it before and know nothing about it," Long Yu calmly replied as he tightened the night vision camera onto the drone.
After listening to what he said, Yao Ran pondered for a moment before responding, "Since you believe the current situation might be man-made, then the person responsible should still be at this base."
"That's right," Long Yu agreed.
Yao Ran handed Long Yu the drone controller, then retrieved a laptop from her storage space and connected it to the drone.
Once she was ready, she powered on the drone and said, "A Yu, let's check the entire base."
"Alright," he replied.
Long Yu operated the drone while Yao Ran observed the screen. The two of them remained on the rooftop for a long time.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Shi Xuan had already finished cleaning the first and second floors but still couldn't find Yao Ran or Long Yu. After calling out to them a few times and getting no response, he decided to head to the rooftop.
Noticing the door to the rooftop was open, Shi Xuan guessed the two of them were there. As he stepped through the doorway, he heard Yao Ran's voice.
"A Yu, next, check the slum area."
Shi Xuan glanced at him and commented, "Captain, you seem to know something about this stone."
Long Yu nodded. "This stone is a type of ore that started appearing after the natural disasters. I don't know where it comes from, but I do know the damage it can cause to humanity." Sensing the gravity in his tone, Shi Xuan frowned. After staring at the stone on the screen for a few seconds, he asked, "What kind of damage can a stone cause?"
Long Yu looked away from the screen and replied, "This stone is likely responsible for the strange phenomenon we have right now. It releases a toxic gas that's incredibly deadly. Just a single whiff is enough to kill instantly."
"Mutants have better senses than humans, and deformed monsters act on instinct. I think it was because of this stone that the mutated monsters and the deformed monsters left this
place alone."
Shi Xuan stared at him in disbelief and asked, "Something that powerful exists?"
Long Yu replied, "Yes. Why else do you think there has been no sound since we left the underground shelter? If even those mutants and deformed monsters are afraid of this stone, how powerful do you think it is?"
Shi Xuan was left speechless by the questions. After saying that, Long Yu continued to observe the screen and added, "We must destroy it before the survivors leave the underground
shelter."
"Should we blow it up?" Yao Ran suggested.
Long Yu shook his head. "No. Moving the ore even slightly will release the toxic gas. If we blow it up, this area may become uninhabitable in the future."
"Then what should we do?" Shi Xuan asked.
After a moment of thought, Long Yu said, "First, we need to confine the stone inside a sealed box. That way, the toxic gas won't spread when we move it. A Xuan, I think you can help in this plan with your space ability."
Shi Xuan tilted his head, pondering Long Yu's words before his eyes lit up. He smiled and said, "Captain, don't worry. I know what to do."
As soon as these words came out, Yao Ran knew what Long Yu wanted to do.
