Mu Xichen walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows and said, "I know. Just focus on your research. Also, hurry up and create the medicine."
"Got it." Hua Shengyang answered calmly and ended the call.
After hanging up the call, Mu Xichen dialed another number and waited for the call to connect.
A few seconds later, a man's voice came from the phone. "Young Master Mu, what can I do for you?"
Hearing the man's question, Mu Xichen said, "Investigate what happened to the heiress of the Yao Group, Yao Ran, after Lan Guanghui kidnapped her. I want to know everything about her and the people she has met since then."
"Understood."
After the man accepted the order, Mu Xichen ended the call. He stood silently, gazing thoughtfully at the villa across the street.
Meanwhile, in another villa in the outer ring of the neighborhood, a man in his thirties put down his phone. Turning to someone nearby, he asked, "Where is Brother Ling?"
One of the men working there looked up and answered, "Brother Ling is in a meeting with clients. If it's urgent, you can find Brother Yuan in the warehouse."
The man nodded. "Thanks."
After leaving the office, he hurried to the warehouse. Seeing Yuan Rihui watching the workers count and pack fresh meat, the man quickly approached him.
"Brother Yuan." He called.
Yuan Rihui turned and asked, "What's wrong? Why do you look so flustered?"
The man approached, lowered his voice, and whispered, "Brother Yuan, a client just requested us to investigate Miss Yao."
Hearing this, Yuan Rihui's expression darkened. "Who is it?" he asked.
"The young master from the Mu family," the man replied.
Yuan Rihui frowned and asked, "Young Master Mu-Mu Xichen?"
The man nodded, and then Yuan Rihui asked again, "What kind of investigation does he want?"
The man explained, "Young Master Mu wants us to investigate what happened to Miss Yao after Lan Guanghui kidnapped her. He also wants information on everyone Miss Yao has met or known since then."
After prolonged torture, the man finally lay unconscious on the dirty ground. Seeing this, Wu Yehao kicked him aside before turning to the others.
When one of them noticed Wu Yehao's gaze land on him, he trembled and hurriedly knelt before him.
Enduring the pain all over his body, the man repeatedly knocked his head against the ground and begged, "I will talk! I will talk! Please spare me!"
"Who is your captain? What is your mission?" Wu Yehao repeated coldly.
The man trembled under Wu Yehao's murderous aura and stammered, "It's-it's Captain
Shi."
Wu Yehao's expression darkened upon hearing the name. His voice turned colder as he asked, "Shi Jingzhe?"
The man frantically nodded and replied, "Yes, yes! It's Captain Shi Jingzhe."
As Wu Yehao's murderous aura intensified, the man froze in place. A few seconds later, he crawled toward Wu Yehao, trying to grab his leg, but was swiftly kicked away.
Bam! Thud!
"Ugh!" He let out a muffled grunt as his body crashed into the wall and fell heavily to the
ground.
Clutching his stomach, the man groaned in pain and pleaded, "I-I have told you what you wanted to know. Please... let me go."
Wu Yehao stared down at him and asked, "What is your mission here? Why are you disguised as survivors and living in the slum?"
Knowing he had already revealed his captain's name, the man realized his only chance of
survival was to gain Wu Yehao's protection.
Making up his mind, he gritted his teeth and answered, "Our mission is to cause chaos here."
Wu Yehao narrowed his eyes and asked again, "That's it?"
The man shivered as Wu Yehao's cold gaze fell onto his body.
Desperate to save his life, he quickly added, "Yes, yes! I only joined The Ark last month, and this is my first mission. Please, don't kill me! I really don't know anything else."
