Chapter 292 Operation Hunting Cat
Chapter 292 Operation Hunting Cat
The anesthetic embedded in the bullet head quickly spread throughout the mutated wildcat's body.
Its movements became slower and finally, it collapsed onto the ground, powerless.
"We did it!" a team member exclaimed excitedly.
"Don't let your guard down, continue the search," Liu Bing ordered, while also informing the other two groups of the situation via radio.@@@@
At the same time, a battle was taking place in the basement as well.
The second group was searching in the darkness.
Suddenly, a piercing cat screech came from behind them.
The team members quickly turned around to see a massive mutated wildcat pouncing from the shadows.
"Fall back!" the leader urgently commanded the team members to retreat while opening fire. The sound of the anesthetic bullets echoed in the cramped basement, hitting the wildcat. The wildcat roared in pain but remained strong and forceful.
But the team members had taken this opportunity to quickly set up a wire mesh, attempting to trap the wildcat.
The wildcat struggled in the wire mesh, its roars deafening.
Two greenish pupils flickered like ghostly flames in the dark, sharp teeth and claws constantly tugging at the wire, even sparking faintly from the friction.
The team members continued to fire until the wildcat's movements slowed and it finally fell to the ground.
Someone, following the leader's order, wanted to move forward to check.
But just then, the mutated wildcat, which had stopped moving inside the wire mesh, suddenly extended its claws, grabbing the terror-stricken team member into its embrace.
His throat was almost instantly pierced by sharp fangs, then violently ripped open.
And behind them, gunfire broke out again.
The wildcat finally fell.
This time, however, no one went straight up to it; they all watched the wildcat inside the wire mesh with utmost alertness until several minutes passed, then the leader personally went forward to check.
"Leader."
"We've succeeded here too."
Only then did he pick up the walkie-talkie to report the outcome of the battle to Liu Bing, his tone now carrying a bit more weight.
But even so, the remaining team members quickly began cheering and celebrating.
In the Hunter Squad, death was a common occurrence.
Completing the mission was what mattered.
On the other side, Liu Bing felt a sudden relief upon hearing this; this was a mission personally arranged by the boss, and now it was almost complete.
Groups one and two had finished their battles, leaving only the third group, which was still searching upstairs.
The bullets were all filled with a sedative.
The drug's effect spread rapidly through the cat's bloodstream as it thrashed, and its howling weakened till it eventually stopped moving completely.
Although Liu Bing was usually impulsive, he was surprisingly calm at a moment like this.
He immediately stopped the teammates who wanted to go forward and check.
"Wait a bit longer."
So the others had no choice but to wait where they were, guns still in hand, standing like statues in the darkness.
After what felt like an eternity, Liu Bing's voice finally reached everyone's ears.
"It's safe now."
"Someone go check it out, be careful."
No sooner had his words fallen than an impatient teammate suppressed his excitement and quietly approached the mutated wild cat entangled in the wire mesh, finally prodded its strong back with his gun barrel.
The target didn't move an inch.
This reaction quickly prompted cheers from all, but they immediately quelled their voices, though their faces still bore an indescribable excitement and joy.
The Hunter Squad's mission was accomplished!
They had succeeded!
Next, they needed to bring all three mutated wild cats back to the base as quickly as possible and, following Zhang Ye's instructions, deliver them directly to Dr. Zhao's laboratory.
The cages for transporting the targets were specially made by the mechanical department.
The steel bars were as thick as fingers.
After confirming there were no casualties among the team members, Liu Bing immediately ordered everyone to put the three mutated wild cats into the beast cages and then drive back to the base.
Meanwhile, Zhang Ye, who was discussing the next steps with Ai Bing in the living room, also received the news.
"Success?"
"Good job, Liu Bing, well done!"
"Alright, no need to bring them to me for inspection, just take them directly to Dr. Zhao's lab."
After putting down the intercom, Ai Bing, who was beside him, curiously looked over, "Did the Hunter Squad's mission succeed?"
"Yeah."
"Caught three."
"Now it's up to Dr. Zhao."
Zhang Ye nodded but promptly became somewhat anxious again, as the next step was the most challenging part of the whole plan.
