Chapter 331: Saving Young Lives
Chapter 331: Saving Young Lives
"Hahahaha! You're done for you little nitwit!" Byson celebrated as three more captains drew their weapons, donning menacing smiles as they joined Fox and the others.
"Is this the idiot who dared invade us alone?"
"Yes, Head Captain Balkan, this girl dared claim that she would wipe us out when she's already having trouble from just the four of us! Hahahaha! She wouldn't even last a second against the vice-leaders!" Byson replied as he looked at Seira with a mocking smile.
What surprised him was, that Seira, who was currently in a precarious situation, looked straight back at them with a mocking smile of their own.
It didn't take long for him to find out why though.
*SPURT!*
An old head flew through the air, causing crimson blood to splatter across the cold, hard ground, landing and rolling just a few meters beside Byson's feet and successfully capturing his attention.
"H-H-HEAD CAPTAIN BALKAN!!!" Byson and a few other captains screamed in unison, confused and horrified at Balkan's fate.
They didn't even know who killed him.
However, after Fox's head flew, the captains finally realized who had been killing them: the sinner who led the young female adventurer inside the lair.
"YOU!! Y-You're not one of us!!"
"Bingbong! Correct, I am not. Unfortunately, none of you will live long enough to warn the others." Shye said with a spine-chilling smile, not noticing that he was slowly growing fond of killing people, albeit only the bad ones.
"Leave the girl for later! Jump this guy!" Byson once again took command, unhesitatingly charging first as he brandished his mace with a ferocious expression, aiming to destroy Shye's head akin to popping a watermelon.
Unfortunately, his metal mace along with his entire body was easily split in two as Shye slashed diagonally upwards, causing a mixture of guts and blood to paint the ground red.
Witnessing Byson's fate, the other captains immediately knew that they were no match for Shye.
Hence, a few of them started hesitating, and as a result, their cohesiveness fell apart, making it easier for Shye to rip them apart one by one.
Nonetheless, there were a few captains who tried their hardest to resist.
Regrettably, all of them suffered the same fate as their weapons, along with their bodies, were slashed in half.
Seira didn't stay idle, proactively charging at one of the captains who arrived as reinforcement and swinging her greatsword vertically downwards with a fierce and resolute expression—fully prepared to take another life for the sake of her growth as an adventurer.
Shye easily slaughtered six of the captains, leaving only one alive: Aljo, a mage class captain who was as slippery as a snake.
There were a few times when the hyper-focused Seira managed to lightly wound Aljo, however, she was far from killing him.
'She should be able to take this guy down even without my help...' Shye inwardly thought as he observed the ongoing duel to the death. 'I'll give you this chance to grow...'
Leaving Seira and Aljo at the entrance, Shye once again walked deeper into the lair.
Seira noticed Shye's departure and couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth and enthusiasm in her heart, knowing that her boss had confidence in her to defeat her adversary.
Naturally, hearing their savior's confident words brought peace to their hearts, however, they were still slightly scared.
Remembering that he shouldn't let such innocent girls witness a scene of carnage, Shye abruptly halted and turned around.
"Wait here for a bit. If you see a bandit, scream. Big brother will take them out for you, okay?"
"Okay." The girls answered in unison.
Shye thought that he would have to help Seira kill the last guy.
Fortunately, once he arrived in front of the right entrance, he stumbled upon the pleasant scene of Seira slashing Aljo in half—she had a crazy look on her face as though what she just did was torture for both herself and her opponent.
Well, this was only her second kill so it was quite understandable.
*Clap!* *Clap! *Clap!*
"Good job, Seira, remember, you killed him because he would kill you if you didn't. Moreover, he was nothing but scum, and you're doing the world a favor by reducing the number of such fiends."
Hearing Shye's voice, Seira turned her head.
"B-Boss..."
"First, help me gather the bodies, then I'll show you something."
Although confused, Seira complied, carrying each dead body with a disgusted and distressed expression, especially when she relocated the bodies of Aljo and Rain, the bandit captains that she killed.
Shortly after, Shye burned the corpses to ashes.
Although the nauseating scent of blood and iron lingered in the air, at least the harrowing scene of utter carnage was cleaned up. Continue your adventure with m|v-l'e -novelhall.net
Satisfied, Shye called the young girls.
"Everyone, come. Big brother and big sister had already dealt with the bad guys."
Hearing the big brother adventurer's voice, the young girls hurriedly walked towards the source of the voice, the older ones covering the eyes of those who were less than ten years old upon arriving at the right entrance.
"Look, Seira. Because you killed those two scourges, these little angels get to live. Now, tell me. Is what you did right or wrong?"
Shye's words struck something in Seira's heart and mind, allowing her to feel a lot better.
Indeed, she didn't take lives indiscriminately. She took lives to save her own and these little angels'.
Noticing her expression changing for the better, Shye nodded satisfactorily, giving her instructions soon after.
"You can leave the rest to me. Return these little ones to their villages and wait for me at our rendezvous point."
"R-Roger...Boss!'
