Chapter 22 The aggressive Kobold(1)

There was long eye contact between the kobold and John. The Kobold didn't move at all but its eyes were all over John, it was trying to find some long claws or sharp teeth but couldn't find anything.

At last, its head looked back at the two kobolds eating the corpse on the ground inside out.

'What the hell...?' Lucas thought and it was the same with John after they witnessed the Kobold's mouth opening only to realize that it was grinning with its long tongue out.

Lucas and John made eye contact and gulped, their plan had already commenced when the Kobold saw them.

*What a weak fleshhh... this hunt will be fun!*

The kobold made some cranky noises from its mouth that went over both the human's head. They didn't care about this development... the only thing on their mind was to defeat this creature silently.

At last, John nodded at Lucas and after a deep breath of panic.

Swish!

He started sprinting to the left which made the Kobold snicker in a sadistic manner as if it was enjoying this.

*Ku ku ku... how amazing!*

The Kobold made some grunts and cranky sounds again yet John was already focused on just running until finally, the Kobold noticed something.

*Are you trying to take me away from my brothers? How splendid!* The Kobold spoke again.

In all the noise of them both running away, the Kobold didn't realize that Lucas too was running behind them and he was surprisingly close to the Kobold.

Yet the Kobold didn't care, for him, this was just free food, and the further the food goes, the more food it will get to eat on its own.

At the grazing area, one of the Kobolds finally moved its head up and looked toward the direction one of its brethren left its food and ran away.

*So you are going to stop now? Tired you little bitch?* The kobold was talking in its own language that the duo humans did not understand. All the taunts by the Kobold were for naught as they couldn't understand what the Kobold was saying anyway.

Lucas didn't stop and after coming a little close to the Kobold, he thrusted the spear in his hand in a horizontal strike meaning to puncture the Kobold's body.

The Kobold knew that someone was behind it yet it didn't care as the bigger one, John was already in front of it with highly determined eyes. The Kobold was sure that John was the one with the battle intent he sensed before but it was sorely mistaken.

Unfortunately, the Kobold was quite alert and managed to dodge the attack by quickly shifting to its right as though it was experienced in evading.

Lucas couldn't help but stumble a little as the spear keep going ahead with him and the ground was pretty uneven. Before he could retract his body back to get on guard, a small silhouette was speedily coming toward his gut.

Bang!

The kobold had whipped Lucas right at the gut with its tail as it was the nearest weapon it had around Lucas.

THUD!

Lucas went a little above the ground level and landed at a tree's trunk and his back made a loud sound again.

'Deja-vu?'

The same thing had happened to him before with the rapacious plant but Lucas knew the difference altogether.

The rapacious plant was stronger and the force it used to send Lucas flying was higher than that of a Kobold. And on a second note, Lucas had already leveled twice. He placed a lot of points on his strength which in one way or another helped play wonders on his constitution.

*You little meal... how dare you try to sneak up on me?*

The Kobold looked angry from its continuous grinding teeth and eyes that had become very narrow.

All its attention was on Lucas who had a serious and cold expression while he held the spear near his shoulder with both his hands horizontally. The way he was holding it looked like a proper stance and even John was a bit flabbergasted by it until he realized that the plan had to be progressed or else... they both were going to become lizard food.
