Chapter 34 Glacia's Expedition Gains

Chapter 34 Glacia's Expedition Gains

After pampering his summon for a bit, Aoni went ahead and helped her clean all the crud off her fur before tallying up everything she had brought back.

Luckily, the cold was more than enough to curb decomposition, and as such, other than the standard Gamey smells you'd expect from woodland critters and, of course, gore, they didn't stink too badly.

While organizing the deceased animals by size, he couldn't help but glance at Glacia as she rolled around in the snow without a care in the world to free her fur of gore.

Because the evidence spoke for itself, every single critter had been one-shotted, and based on what Aoni was inspecting, the death blow for the smaller animals was always a crushing of the skull.

Birds, mice, rabbits, they all were the same; it was almost as if she had plucked them up like a vegetable and popped their noggins like grapes.

That mental image sent a slight chill down his spine, not because it was brutal, but because it was GLACIA, his smol, little floof, who was doing it.

Then again, it wasn't really that surprising; all things considered, she was a Predator. However, when Aoni got to the larger animals, he noticed they seemed to be like a cross between a mole and one of the dozens of polar fox species.@@@@

They had long, fluffy white or gray tails with dense fur, pointed ears, and slender bodies, all the fox-like characteristics one would expect; however, their paws and snouts were opposite of the small mammals he knew of because the paws, snout, and flat nose all screamed subterraining burrower.

"I know you can find things, so we need this..." seeming to understand what he was saying for the first time, Glacia leaned forward and gave the pile of salt a sniff before sneezing violently and nearly sending the salt and herself flying in opposite directions.

'Okay, that was too fucking adorable,' wearing a soft smile, Aoni patted his summon with his free hand as she wiped her face furiously like a hamster before eventually calming down and glaring at him.

"Sorry, sorry. I should have warned you. Anyway, do you think you can find more stuff that smells like that?" Carefully watching her facial expressions and eyes, Aoni hoped she would understand, even if what he was asking was a long shot at best.

Finding Salt deposits on the mountain was a tall order, considering factors such as altitude and distance from ancient oceans. However, if they did exist in his territory, Aoni could potentially gain a massive benefit in the early stages of development.

Because of their usefulness, salts and minerals would ALWAYS have value and purpose, no matter the time or place.

For a few moments after clearing her sinuses, Glacia nudged Aoni's hand and even tasted the pile of salt a few times before smacking her lips and looking around.

And before he could even say another word, she used him as a springboard and took off running, giving Aoni barely enough time to grab hold of his Hook Blades and take off after her.

Unfortunately, there was no way for the Lad even to hope to keep up with his summon. Within a few seconds, she was already racing down the slope of the mountain, leaving Aoni standing at the edge of the flattened terrain, watching as she vanished from sight.

'Sigh...should have expected that...I guess for now...I should drain the blood and store the bodies...I could probably skin them, but what's the point if I can't do anything with the fur and hides yet.' Drooping his shoulders, Aoni deposited his weapons back in the cave, grabbed his knife, and dragged out one of the felled logs Glacia had scavenged the day before.
