Chapter 39 Young Master
Chapter 39 Young Master
Ignoring his discomfort, Jiang Xun hastily washed his face, changed into clean clothes, and went out to inquire about the location of "Guangji Medical Clinic".
Guangji Medical Clinic is located in the south of the city. It is an old house with three courtyards. A black plaque with gold characters hangs in front of the door. The four characters "Guangji Medical Clinic" are written in strong and vigorous strokes, clearly the work of a famous calligrapher.
Several signs hang inside the museum, with words like "Healing the sick and saving lives" and "Miraculous healing hands".
There was a queue at the entrance, with people of all ages and genders waiting to see a doctor. There were many more people than at the surrounding clinics.
He queued for a while, and when it was finally his turn, he stepped inside.
A middle-aged man was sitting in the front hall, wearing a gray cloth long gown and a pair of reading glasses, engrossed in writing a prescription.
Hearing footsteps, he looked up and asked expressionlessly, "Where do you feel unwell?"
Jiang Xun nodded: "I'm looking for Lao Yu."
The middle-aged man paused, pen in hand, and looked him up and down: "Old Yu? Who are you?"
Jiang Xun thought for a moment and decided to tell the truth: "The patient... A girl in black asked me to come see him."
The middle-aged man, however, clearly didn't know anything about the girl in black. He put down his pen and said impatiently, "Dr. Yu has been retired for many years and doesn't see outsiders. If you need medical treatment, just come to me."
Jiang Xun shook his head: "I need to see Lao Yu."
"I said I wouldn't see you, and that means I won't. Go on, don't hold up the people behind you." The middle-aged man waved his hand and called out to the people behind him, "Next."
The people behind him pushed Jiang Xun aside, and he stood to the side, watching the middle-aged man bustling about. He touched his nose, feeling somewhat annoyed.
But he's not someone who gives up easily.
Since we can't get in through the main entrance, let's go through the side entrance.
He circled around the clinic and found a small alley leading to the backyard, at the end of which was a low wall. He looked around and, seeing no one, easily jumped over the wall and landed in the backyard.
The backyard is small, but very elegant.
The ground was paved with bluestone slabs, and several clumps of green bamboo grew in the corner. In the middle, there was a stone table and several stone stools. Directly opposite was a row of blue brick and tile houses, with their doors and windows tightly closed, and a medicinal fragrance wafted out.
Jiang Xun had barely landed, and before he could even get a good look around, he heard a voice: "Who goes there?"
He turned his head and saw a boy rushing out of the house.
The boy, about fifteen or sixteen years old, was dressed in a short blue outfit. He had delicate features but sharp eyes. He held a fire poker in his hand and stood menacingly in front of him.
"Who are you? How did you get in?" The boy stared at him warily, holding a fire poker horizontally in front of him.
Jiang Xun got straight to the point: "I'm looking for Lao Yu."
"What do you want with my grandfather?" The boy frowned, his eyes wary.
Jiang Xun was delighted upon hearing this.
It turns out he's Old Yu's grandson. How wonderful!
"I came to see him for medical treatment," he said. "A young woman referred me here."
"My grandfather doesn't see outsiders!" the boy said firmly. "If you don't leave, I won't be polite!"
Jiang Xun glanced at the boy, then at the fire poker in his hand, and found it somewhat amusing: "You can't beat me."
The boy's face darkened: "Whether we can win or not, we'll find out after we try!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than he swung the fire poker at Jiang Xun.
Jiang Xun dodged to the side, thinking he could easily dodge, but he didn't expect the boy's staff skills to be so strong. One move after another, continuous and uninterrupted, and each move carried a hidden force.
"Huh?" Jiang Xun was a little surprised, not expecting that this young man was a martial arts expert.
While dodging, he observed and found that the boy's martial arts style was very orthodox and his foundation was solid. Although he didn't have many moves, he used each move very effectively.
However, he is still young and his skills are still limited.
Jiang Xun dodged more than a dozen moves in a row, and felt the true energy in his body begin to stir again. He knew he couldn't delay any longer.
He took a deep breath, stopped dodging, and took the blow head-on from the boy's stick.
With a loud bang, the boy was jolted back three steps, almost dropping the fire poker from his hand.
His expression changed drastically, and he stared at Jiang Xun in disbelief: "You..."
Jiang Xun also took a step back, feeling a tightness in his chest, but still forced a smile: "I told you, you can't beat me."
The boy was unconvinced and was about to attack again when an old voice came from inside the house: "Xiao Yi, stop."
An old man with a white beard came out of the house.
The old man was in his seventies, with white hair and beard, a gaunt face, and wore a gray robe. He walked steadily and was in good spirits.
Although his eyes were somewhat cloudy, the occasional glint of light in them made him someone not to be underestimated.
Upon seeing the old man, Jiang Xun felt relieved and cupped his hands in greeting, saying, "You must be the Divine Physician Yu?"
The old man didn't answer, but instead looked him up and down, his gaze lingering on his face for a moment before slowly asking, "Who are you?"
"I am Jiang Xun, a patient," Jiang Xun answered honestly.
"A patient?" Old Yu glanced at his face, frowning slightly. "What brings you here?"
Jiang Xun took a deep breath and lowered his voice, saying, "I couldn't control my internal energy. A woman in black asked me to come find you."
Upon hearing this, Lao Yu's expression changed slightly.
He was silent for a moment, then walked to the stone table, sat down, and pointed to the stone bench opposite him: "Sit down and talk."
Jiang Xun sat down as instructed.
Old Yu extended three fingers, placed them on his wrist, and began to take his pulse.
At first, Old Yu's expression was calm, like an ordinary old Chinese medicine doctor. But before long, his brows furrowed, his fingers trembled slightly, and his face grew increasingly solemn.
Seeing his changing expression, Jiang Xun felt a surge of anxiety: "Dr. Yu, my illness..."
Old Yu did not answer, but continued to take the pulse.
After a while, he suddenly opened his eyes, staring at Jiang Xun with shock in his eyes.
"You..." His voice trembled slightly, "What kind of internal energy do you practice?"
Jiang Xun shook his head: "I don't know."
"You don't know?" Old Yu's eyes widened. "How could you not know?"
Jiang Xun smiled wryly: "I really don't know. This internal energy inexplicably appeared in my body. I don't even know how it came about."
Old Yu stared intently at him for a long while, then suddenly stood up and said in a respectful tone, "Please come with me."
Jiang Xun was stunned. Was there something he couldn't say here?
Old Yu didn't explain, but simply made a "please" gesture and then went into the house first.
Jiang Xun hesitated for a moment, but still followed.
Yu Xiaoyi was also confused by her grandfather's attitude and stood there, unsure whether she should follow him.
The room was simply furnished with a wooden bed, a desk, a few bookshelves, and a landscape painting on the wall.
If it weren't for the faint scent of medicine, Jiang Xun would have thought he had entered a scholar's study.
Old Yu closed the door, turned to look at Jiang Xun, and suddenly knelt down.
"This old servant, Yu Jishi, greets the young master."
