Chapter 127 Egypt Encounters Sandstorm Puppet!
Chapter 127 Egypt Encounters Sandstorm Puppet!
The atmosphere in the VIP waiting hall of Jiangzhou International Airport was somewhat somber.
Lu Jingchen sat by the window, gently stroking the Dragon's Lair Jade Pendant, which had awakened the power of a true dragon. Golden patterns shimmered in the sunlight, and a faint dragon's roar could be heard. Su Muyue sat beside him, quietly organizing the magical artifacts and medicines in her backpack, glancing at Lu Jingchen every now and then, her eyes filled with worry.
"Brother Lu, are you sure you don't need us to go with you?" Ma Xiaodong rubbed his hands together, looking anxious. "Egypt is a place you don't know well, and the Dark Pavilion has laid a trap there. It's too dangerous for just the four of you! How about I bring two hundred more trainees with you? Many hands make light work!"
Shi Lei nodded in agreement, "Yes, brother! We're not afraid to die! Even if it costs us our lives, we'll protect you and your wife!"
Lu Jingchen raised his head and smiled: "No need. This trip to Egypt isn't about fighting, it's about stopping the Dark Pavilion from opening the Dragon's Lair. Too many people would only make us too conspicuous and easy to expose. You guys stay here to guard Jiangzhou, keep an eye on the Martial Arts Association and the Cloud Top Hotel, and don't give the remnants of the Dark Pavilion any chance to take advantage. That's the greatest help you can give me."
He paused, then looked at the two elderly men in gray Taoist robes standing beside him: "Elder Qingfeng, Elder Mingyue, I'll have to trouble you two this time."
Elder Qingfeng quickly cupped his hands in greeting: "Master Lu, you flatter us! You saved our entire Xuanmen sect, what is this small matter! We would risk our lives to protect you and Miss Su!"
Elder Mingyue nodded in agreement: "That's right! The Dark Pavilion has acted perversely, harming living beings; we've long wanted to settle accounts with them!"
The boarding announcement came over the loudspeaker.
Lu Jingchen stood up and picked up his backpack: "Alright, we should go. Remember, call me immediately if anything happens."
"Don't worry, brother! We'll definitely protect our home!" Ma Xiaodong and Shi Lei replied in unison.
The four boarded a flight bound for Cairo, Egypt. The plane slowly took off, pierced through the clouds, and flew towards the distant African continent.
Lu Jingchen looked at the sea of clouds outside the window, his expression becoming serious.
Shadow Five was right; the Dark Council had entered the Great Pyramid of Giza three days in advance. That's the location of the fourth dragon's lair. If they successfully open the lair and obtain its power, the consequences would be unimaginable.
What worried him even more was his master's safety. If his master was truly imprisoned in the Vatican, the Dark Lord would definitely use him to threaten him. At that point, he really didn't know what to do.
"Don't worry, everything will be alright." Su Muyue gently held his hand and said tenderly, "No matter what happens, I will be with you."
Lu Jingchen turned to look at her and smiled, "Yes, with you here, I'm not afraid of anything."
After more than ten hours of flight, the plane finally landed at Cairo International Airport.
As soon as I stepped out of the cabin, a wave of scorching heat hit me. The temperature here was over forty degrees Celsius, and the air was so dry it made my throat ache.
"It's so hot here," Su Muyue said softly, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
"That's what summer is like in Egypt," Elder Qingfeng said. "Let's leave the airport quickly, find a place to stay in the city, and then figure out how to get to the Giza Pyramids."
The four of them walked toward the customs exit.
Just then, several men in customs uniforms stopped them. The man in the lead had a sinister look in his eyes, sized Lu Jingchen up and down, and said in broken Chinese, "Your passports are problematic. Come with us."
Lu Jingchen's eyes narrowed. He could sense that these people were emanating a faint black aura, clearly belonging to the Dark Pavilion.
"Our passports were all processed legally, how could there be a problem?" Su Muyue said, frowning.
"Stop talking nonsense! Just leave when I tell you to!" The man suddenly reached out, trying to grab Lu Jingchen's arm.
Lu Jingchen dodged to the side and casually pushed the man away. The man flew backward like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily into the wall and spitting out blood.
Seeing this, the other customs officers all drew their guns and aimed them at Lu Jingchen.
"You dare assault a police officer? You're asking for death!"
The surrounding passengers screamed in fright and scattered in all directions.
"Shadow Four, stop pretending and come out," Lu Jingchen said calmly.
As soon as he finished speaking, a man dressed in a black robe emerged from behind a pillar. He wore a sand-yellow mask and held a skull staff; he was none other than Shadow Four, one of the Twelve Shadow Masters of the Dark Pavilion.
"Lu Jingchen, I didn't expect you to see through my disguise so quickly." Ying Si smiled sinisterly. "But it doesn't matter. Now that you're here, don't even think about leaving Cairo alive."
He stomped his foot and shouted, "A sandstorm is coming!"
A sudden gust of wind swept through the entire airport terminal. Yellow sand surged in from all directions, instantly enveloping the entire terminal. Visibility was reduced to less than a meter, and the air was filled with the acrid smell of sand and dust.
"Watch out! There are Gu worms in the sand!" Elder Mingyue shouted, pulling out a handful of talismans and throwing them into the air. The talismans transformed into beams of golden light, blocking most of the sand.
However, a considerable number of black Gu worms, mixed in with the sand, swarmed towards the four. These Gu worms were as small as dust; once they burrowed into a person's skin, they would devour their internal organs, causing them to die in extreme agony.
"A trivial skill."
Lu Jingchen snorted coldly, and the Dragon Cave Jade Pendant on his chest emitted a dazzling golden light. He formed a hand seal and chanted an ancient incantation.
"The fire of the true dragon will consume all things!"
A golden flame rose from his palm, instantly transforming into a fire dragon that swirled and danced in the hall. Wherever the golden flame passed, sand and insects were instantly burned to ashes. The gale gradually subsided.
"Impossible! How could my Sandstorm Gu be broken so easily?!" Shadow Four shouted in disbelief.
"Is that all you've got? You dare to stop me?" Lu Jingchen walked step by step toward Shadow Four, his eyes icy cold.
Shadow Four gritted his teeth and slammed the skull staff into the ground.
"Mummy army, come forth!"
The ground cracked open, and a dozen or so mummies, their bodies wrapped in bandages, crawled out from underground. Their eyes flickered with green will-o'-the-wisps, and although they moved slowly, they possessed immense strength and were impervious to weapons.
"Kill them!" Shadow Four shouted.
A dozen or so mummies roared at the same time and pounced on the four of them.
Elder Qingfeng and Elder Mingyue immediately rushed forward, their talismans and swords flashing as they fought the mummies. But these mummies were simply too tough; the talismans could only leave shallow marks on them.
"This can't go on, we must destroy their cores!" Elder Mingyue shouted as he fought.
Lu Jingchen nodded, and with a flash, he rushed into the group of mummies. His speed was as fast as lightning; with each punch, a mummy's head was smashed open, and green brain matter splattered everywhere.
In less than a minute, all of the dozen or so mummies were dealt with.
Shadow Four was so terrified that he turned and tried to run away.
"Trying to run? Too late."
Lu Jingchen flashed and appeared in front of him instantly, grabbing his neck and lifting him up.
"Speak! What is the Dark Pavilion doing inside the pyramid right now? Where is the Dragon's Lair located?"
"I... I won't tell you..." Shadow Four stubbornly insisted, "Our master will soon open the dragon's lair and obtain ancient power. Then, you will all die!"
"Is that so?" Lu Jingchen tightened his grip slightly. "Then I'll kill you first, and then go find it myself."
"Uh... I'll talk... I'll talk..." Shadow Four, his face pale with pain, hurriedly said, "The Lord sent Shadow Two and Shadow Three, with five hundred assassins, who entered the Great Pyramid three days ago. They set up a blood sacrifice array in the main burial chamber, preparing the blood of one hundred young boys and girls to break the seal of the dragon's lair. Now... now the blood sacrifice is halfway through..."
"What?!" Lu Jingchen's expression changed drastically. "They actually used living people as sacrifices?! That's utterly depraved!"
"And...and..." Shadow Four stammered, "The area around the pyramids has been sealed off by our people. No one is allowed to approach. You can't get in at all..."
Lu Jingchen's eyes turned cold, and he suddenly exerted force on his hand.
With a "crack," Shadow Four's neck was snapped.
He threw Shadow Four's corpse on the ground and said to Elder Qingfeng and Elder Mingyue, "There's no time to lose. We must go to the Giza Pyramids now. We must stop them before the blood sacrifice is complete!"
"good!"
The four immediately left the airport, rented an SUV, and drove towards the Giza Pyramids.
Along the way, they saw members of the Dark Council patrolling everywhere. Numerous roadblocks were set up on the highway, and all roads leading to the pyramids were blocked.
"It seems that forcing our way through is not an option," Elder Mingyue said, frowning. "There are so many people; we simply cannot get through."
Lu Jingchen thought for a moment and said, "I have a plan. We'll disguise ourselves as members of an archaeological team. I know an archaeology professor at Cairo University who happens to be conducting excavations nearby. We can use his identity to infiltrate the area."
He took out his phone and called the professor. Upon hearing that Lu Jingchen was going to the pyramids, the professor readily agreed and even sent someone to deliver the archaeological team's uniforms and credentials.
The four changed into the archaeological team's uniforms, got into the professor's car, and passed through all the road checkpoints smoothly.
As the sun sets, golden sunlight shines on the Great Pyramid of Giza, gilding this ancient structure with a mysterious golden hue.
Lu Jingchen stood at the foot of the pyramid, looking up at this greatest miracle in human history.
He could sense that a thick, malevolent aura was rising steadily inside the pyramid.
The blood sacrifice is almost complete.
"Let's go in!"
Lu Jingchen waved his hand, and the four of them walked towards the entrance of the pyramid.
