Chapter 270 Severing the Three Corpses, Guanyin Advises Wukong
Chaotic starry sky.
On this day, Taiqing Laozi, who was cultivating, slowly opened his eyes. Before long, he saw Taishang Laojun riding on a cloud and cupping his hands in greeting.
"I am aware of everything. You did a good job."
Taiqing Laozi nodded, his expression neither sad nor happy, and this indifference even gave people the illusion of being a second Hongjun.
Looking at Laozi's appearance, Laozi sighed, "Alas, why do you do this to yourself?"
Upon hearing this, Taiqing Laozi coldly replied, "Having fallen from his saintly position and stripped of his fruition, even those two despicable Westerners dare to bully my Xuanmen now. Tell me, do I have any other choice?"
He paused, then added, "And that Zhao Gongming—"
These three words seemed to be an obsession of Laozi. When he uttered them, Laozi could clearly sense that beneath the calm exterior, there was still a certain emotional fluctuation that was hard to conceal.
"Don't worry, the moment I attain enlightenment, I will be able to completely sever the ties between good and evil. At that time, you and I will be free and live a carefree life."
Seeing that Laozi remained silent, Taiqing Laozi spoke again in a low voice, which made Laozi perk up a bit.
You should know that he and Laozi of the Hundred Schools of Thought are respectively the good and evil corpses of Taiqing Laozi.
He was responsible for assisting Haotian in the Heavenly Court and acquiring the Heavenly Court's fortune.
Lao Tzu was responsible for spreading Taoism in the human world and acquiring fortune.
This is why, although Taiqing Laozi was furious after being stripped of his position as leader of the Human Sect, he was not completely disheartened.
As the former leader of the Six Saints and a divinely ordained saint, he naturally possessed many methods. Even now, though he appears to have fallen from his saintly position, he seems to still be in control of the primordial chess game.
However, the current order of the primordial world has been established, and with the rise of Buddhism, it has effectively prevented Laozi from continuing to attain sainthood through the method of accumulating merit.
However, since Hongjun Daozu left behind the method of severing the three corpses to prove the Dao in Zixiao Palace, it can be seen that Taiqing Laozi is now walking this path, and even seems to have made some progress.
If Taiqing Laozi successfully severs the three corpses, he will not only regain his sainthood, but Taishang Laojun and Laozi will also become "free", completely free from Taiqing Laozi's control and become independent individuals!
However, the final step of severing the three corpses, the "self-corpse," is incredibly difficult. Even the Dao Ancestor Hongjun only proposed the theory; he himself never put it into practice, unless—
Thinking of this, Lao Tzu gently asked, "You—have made a deal with that person?"
Taiqing Laozi nodded, then shook his head after a moment, and finally sighed: "In that person's eyes, we are no different from ants. Rather than a transaction, it's more accurate to say that I am of some use to that person."
If others heard these words, they would be absolutely horrified!
For a divinely ordained sage to say that he is no different from an ant before a certain being—such words are absolutely revolutionary for the primordial world!
Taiqing Laozi is doing something that even Hongjun Daozu might not know about!
However, Sun Wukong did not stop there after smashing the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
Relying on the power of Buddhism, he suppressed the Xuanmen forces throughout the Three Realms. Those who helped the Heavenly Court to suppress him back then were all brought to his door by him, either to apologize or to be beaten up, leaving them in a sorry state.
For a time, the entire Three Realms were thrown into chaos by Sun Wukong.
Not to mention the Heavenly Court, even the Buddha Duobao was getting restless after learning of Sun Wukong's actions.
Yes, I asked you, Sun Wukong, to settle the karmic debts, but I didn't ask you to settle them one by one!
Back then, you went to each and every one of those 100,000 heavenly soldiers and generals. You weren't tired of it, but I was tired just watching you go!
-
Furthermore, I did send you out to test the Xuanmen's attitude and, incidentally, to suppress them and demonstrate the power of Buddhism, but I didn't expect you to turn the Three Realms upside down!
Just as the Buddha was frowning in worry, suddenly, a golden light flashed in the sky, and Guanyin Bodhisattva appeared gracefully.
"I have seen the Tathagata." Guanyin Bodhisattva bowed.
Upon seeing Guanyin, Duobao felt as if he had seen a savior: "You've finally come. That Sun Wukong is arrogant and, with the favor of the Holy Buddha, he doesn't even respect me anymore. Now, I'm afraid only your words will be heeded by that monkey."
When Sun Wukong received guidance from Guanyin, he accompanied Jin Chanzi on his journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, and finally attained enlightenment. It can be said that Guanyin's significance to Sun Wukong was no less than that of Bodhi Patriarch.
Right now, this monkey is acting too flamboyantly. Duobao has tried to persuade him several times, but he either acts carelessly and perfunctorily or simply disappears in the end. At present, only Guanyin can persuade him.
"Master, although Wukong's actions are flamboyant, they are understandable."
Seeing that Duobao was somewhat agitated, Guanyin Bodhisattva defended Sun Wukong, saying, "Back then, he was tricked by the Taoist sect and harbored resentment. Now that Buddhism is flourishing and the two holy Buddhas have attained the Primordial Chaos, it is understandable that he would take the opportunity to settle old scores."
Seeing that Guanyin was still speaking up for Sun Wukong, Duobao was speechless. What kind of bewitching spell did that monkey cast on the Buddhist disciples to make so many people dote on him?
Left with no other choice, Duobao could only patiently explain: "It is normal for Sun Wukong to have obsessions, but he makes enemies everywhere and suppresses the Xuanmen and Daomen sects. It may seem satisfying, but in reality, he is bringing disaster to our Buddhist sect."
"Just think about it, the Jie Sect and the Chan Sect during the Investiture of the Gods calamity—"
These words were like a wake-up call. Guanyin suddenly realized the truth and quickly bowed, saying, "This disciple will go and persuade Sun Wukong to return."
""
After saying that, he hurriedly flew towards Flower Fruit Mountain.
When Guanyin found Sun Wukong, he was enjoying a happy gathering with his monkey followers on Flower Fruit Mountain.
Upon seeing Guanyin arrive, Sun Wukong's face lit up with joy. He quickly grabbed Guanyin and pointed to a jar of monkey wine: "Bodhisattva, you've come at just the right time! This monkey wine takes a thousand years to brew a single jar. Out of consideration for our friendship, I, Old Sun, will treat you to a jar today!"
"Nonsense!"
Seeing the monkeys lying drunk on the ground, Guanyin Bodhisattva's expression darkened: "Wukong, how long are you going to keep causing trouble?"
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong chuckled and said, "Bodhisattva, I, Old Sun, am not causing any trouble. I am merely settling accounts with karma."
Guanyin sighed, "Wukong, you're making enemies everywhere; I'm afraid you'll bring disaster upon Buddhism!"
"Calamity?" Sun Wukong laughed heartily, "Bodhisattva, rest assured, with the two World Honored Ones here, we fear no calamity whatsoever. My purpose in purging the Taoist sect today is precisely to uphold the prestige of Buddhism. What's wrong with that?"
Guanyin frowned: "Wukong, you—"
Sun Wukong waved his hand, interrupting Guanyin: "Bodhisattva, I, Old Sun, know my limits. If you come to drink, I welcome you. But if you come to preach, please leave."
After saying that, he turned around and continued playing with the monkeys and their offspring, ignoring Guanyin.
"That mischievous monkey—"
Seeing that Sun Wukong was starting to ignore her, Guanyin frowned deeply.
This monkey, having attained enlightenment and become a Buddha, was supposed to have his violent temper worn away. However, to his surprise, the resentment in his heart not only did not dissipate, but instead grew stronger as his strength increased.
Now that he has the backing of two Buddhist saints, he is even more unscrupulous.
If this continues, something bad is bound to happen sooner or later.
"No, I must report this matter to the Buddha and let them decide."
Thinking of this, Guanyin Bodhisattva immediately flew towards Mount Sumeru.
Watching Guanyin's departing figure, Sun Wukong narrowed his eyes slightly. The next moment, a message was sent out, heading towards the underworld.
