Chapter 170: The Divine Dog Guardian
Chapter 170: The Divine Dog Guardian
"Rou!!"
Raiden looked at the small divine dog in front of him, who was wagging his tail hard while glancing at him with puppy eyes.
Everyone went back home last night after they had their fun, Morgana leaving behind her new partner with Raiden so he could look after him. It was something she got after she was admitted into the academy.
The dog was pitch black in colour, standing upright on its hind legs, with sky blue colour strips on its body and red eyes. Just looking at the guy reminded him of an aura beast from his past life.
{Raul, The Divine Guardian Dog}
{Rank: Bronze}
Description: Raul, The Divine Guardian Dog, is a fierce protector beast from ancient times, that are known for their martial powers. It’s said to be the partner of the First Human King and protector of their realm. They are known for their simple mind and fierce loyalty.
{Potential: S Tier (EX Tier Upon Maturity)}
"Good doggy! You are so brave and strong already. Let’s see if we can push it further, okay??"
"Rouuu!!"
This guy had the potential to go nuclear already, but not every Terra Beast could reach their full potential. And even the ones who did, they took a long time to nurture and grow.
But with Raiden’s help, Morgana can bypass all that and have a head start at Archon Academy. And the stronger you are, the more resources you have, so he decided to help his girlfriend cheat.
"Let’s see. System, Upgrade Sevenfold."
{Ding!! Upgrading the potential of Raul, The Divine Guardian Dog from (S → EX 64/90)}
"Roouu~"
Raul let out a pleasant sound as he felt a super comfortable sensation travel through his body, almost causing him to fall down.
"All right, you can go play with others now, okay? Woolie, he is your new little brother. Take care of him." After handing the new one to Woolie for safekeeping, Raiden moved back to the Banyan tree under which Ruby was still sleeping.
He took one look at her sleeping face before letting out a sigh and getting started on his daily physical exercises once again.
He needed to work really, really hard so he won’t waste another month like the last time. Last time, Woolie reached the nuclear too soon, causing Raiden’s body to be left behind, and he had to work ten times as hard to catch up to him.
This time, he not only had to take on the burden of one but two nuclear-armed Terra Beasts. So he started working out extra hard every day, making sure that when the time came, he would be ready for it.
And by the looks of it, it wouldn’t take long at all.

---------------------
Three days later, Raiden was finally able to get rid of the pest that came to bother him every day, as he was forcefully stuffed into a plane and sent back to school by his aunt.
But along with it, Raiden also had to bid farewell to his girlfriend, who really looked sad to part with him. Raiden wanted to give her a farewell kiss, but under the intense glare of her grandfather, they just held hands, talking to each other for a long time before they parted ways reluctantly.
After finishing everything, his life fell back into a mundane pattern as he woke up every day, took care of the sheep, watered the plants, trained, and cooked.
He also made sure to specially make time for practising Terra Cubes making. He remembered the insult at the hands of Maple, and he was determined not to face it once again.
A week later, just as Raiden finished with his morning workout, he received an unexpected parcel.
"Mr Raiden Ashford?? Please put your thumbprint here to verify." Two professional-looking guys, wearing the alliance outfit, stood in front of his farm with a gigantic truck behind them.
"Sure...this is??" Raiden asked, his voice laced with confusion.
"Didn’t you order two ’Lightning Canopy’ and two ’Golden Berry Trees’?? We are here to deliver those. Where do you want them??"
"Finally, please, please come in. I want you to plant them near those!!" Raiden pointed at the sea of already-planted berry trees at his farm. He had been waiting nearly a month to get this, and he felt like he was going to go bankrupt if they did not arrive soon. Neva had almost eaten 30,000 worth of alliance points food. He was close to running out and joining the army once again.
"Sure, and what about the Lightning Canopy?? Where do you want that??" The Alliance member asked respectfully.
"Huh?? What do you mean??" Raiden asked in confusion.
"I mean, you don’t want to plant The Lightning Canopy on here with the rest of the trees, right? That would just be absurd. You would end up burning down all of them." The second guy chimed in.
"I am sorry, brother, I am not very familiar with The Lightning Canopy. Can you tell me more about it?" Raiden asked humbly.
"Sure, that’s our job. You see, most of the berry trees are similar. All they need is some fertiliser, water, and Sun to grow, but special elemental trees like the Golden Berry Tree or The Lightning Canopy, they require additional things to grow and bear fruit." The first guy explained.
"Let’s talk about Golden Berry Trees first. It’s among the easiest ones for unusual elements to grow. Since it produces berries for light-based Terra Beasts, all it requires is daily sunshine, which is not a big ask. So you can grow it easily next to other trees. But the Lightning Canopy, as its name suggests needs—"
"Lightning!! It requires being stuck constantly by natural lightning to grow up and bear fruit successfully. So if you plant it next to other berry trees, they will burn out and die." The other one cut in cheekily.
"Hey!! I was going to tell him that. Anyways, it’s as this dude says, so you basically need to plant these two trees somewhere far away from the others, preferably in an open ground."
Raiden felt astonished by the information. This world and the plants in it were more magical than he thought.
"Thank you for informing me. Otherwise, I would have committed a big blunder. Please come along, and we will go to the farm and scout for a good location for those."
Under his enthusiastic invitation, both guys helped him plant the new four berry trees, ate a light snack before departing swiftly.
After making sure there was nothing wrong with the Golden Berry, Raiden made his way towards The Lightning Canopy with a curious Woolie and Neva in tow.
"Woolie!!" What is this, human?? It smells delicious.
"This is a special food-bearing tree I acquired at a great cost for you!! So you’d better be grateful and mind your battles." Raiden spoke with a hidden bitterness in his tone.
Woolie, whose element was not even as rare as Neva’s, somehow cost twice as much as hers. It hurt his heart a little bit when he paid for it.
So he wanted Woolie to pay him back by not fighting and battling so much anymore, and taking some rest.
But Woolie interpreted it differently.
’Sniff, this human takes such good care of me. He went out of its way to find special food for me. As he said, I must pay him back by battling even more and becoming the strongest Emperor in the world.’ ( •̀ ω •́ ) y
If Raiden knew how his words were interpreted, he might have committed Seppuku on the spot.
Alas, the ignorant were truly blissful.
"Okay Woolie, I need you to let out a bolt of electricity at the tree. Just a small one. The smallest you can manage. Don’t you dare burn it down." Raiden started to experiment with small. Who knew the real threshold of this tree? What if he accidentally burned it down? He wouldn’t even be crying tears of sadness at that point, but tears of blood.
Woolie gave a confused glance at him, but under his constant urging, he agreed and let out the smallest bolt of lightning at the tree.
Under the curious eyes of two Terra Beasts and a person, the tree easily absorbed all the lightning as its leaves rustled in the air.
"It really can absorb lightning!! Alright, Woolie, ramp it up!! But not by too much!!"
"Woolie!!"
Crackle!!
Woolie struck the tree once again with a stronger bolt of purple lightning, but it absorbed it easily.
Seeing this, Woolie’s eyes lit up. Without waiting for any instructions, it hit the tree again and again with a stronger lightning bolt.
At first, the tree absorbed everything quickly, but the stronger the bolts grew, the slower its absorption speed became. Until, under Raiden’s wide eyes, its trunk started to char black.
"Wait, Woolie, wait!! It’s enough. You can stop now!!"
"Woolie!!"
Woolie was too lost in having fun with this game as he let out an even stronger bolt of thunder.
Raiden instinctively knew this tree couldn’t take it, so he just did the first logical thing that came to his mind.
He jumped in the middle of the thunderbolt.
AGGRRAAHHHH!!!!!!
That day, a painful howl rang out for miles, scaring all the Terra Beasts in the wild into hiding.
