Chapter 1001 - 948: Frost Giant (Two Chapters Combined)
The High Priest was already dead, and Qin Heng tossed his body onto the beach of the Nether Sea.
A person like that could be said to have gotten what he deserved.
After leaving the Nether Sea, Qin Heng took Gu Xuanxuan and Elisa and continued toward Asgard. That was the true core of this "Forbidden Zone of Life," the place where the Asa Divine Realm lay, and where the Asa Divine Clan lived.
Heaven and earth were still a vast sheet of white, silver-clad and plain, all things frozen. Qin Heng and the two women walked across the land, heading toward that giant palace that seemed forever shrouded in dusk.
Qin Heng's pace while traveling with others was very fast; before long, they arrived outside Asgard.
To say "outside" was actually more like the foot of the mountain.
Asgard was not a palace built on flat ground, but a massive complex perched upon a snow mountain. Towering spires rose one after another, clustering around a temple that shot straight into the sky. That was the dwelling of the Divine King Odin, the highest and most exalted place in the Asa Divine Realm.
Strictly speaking, only by ascending this snowy mountain could one be said to have truly stepped into the Asa Divine Realm; otherwise one could only remain outside, at the foot of the mountain.
However, at the foot of this mountain, the three of them discovered something unusual.
Ice sculptures.
Humanoid ice sculptures.
There were a full dozen or more of them, all lifelike, just like real people. They held all sorts of different poses, standing here in the wind and snow, utterly motionless.
"Ahhh!!"
Elisa suddenly let out a shrill scream, the sound incomparably piercing, her expression filled with grief. She collapsed straight down onto the ground, staring in disbelief at the two ice sculptures of Qin Zhong, her eyes brimming with deep terror and sorrow.
"No! No! This is impossible, how can this be, why is it like this!? I don't believe it! Dad! Teacher! Dad! Dad!!"
Her gaze locked onto two of the statues, and her entire emotional state seemed to fall into collapse. She wanted to rush over and throw her arms around those two statues, but Qin Heng stopped her.
"There's extremely strong cold energy on these statues. With your current strength, you simply can't withstand it." Qin Heng blocked Elisa, while his gaze turned to those two statues.
They were statues of two men, both appearing to be in their forties, with typical Western features. The facial features of one of them bore a bit of resemblance to Elisa's.
"Your father and your teacher?" Qin Heng asked.
He remembered that the reason Elisa wanted to come to this Forbidden Zone of Life was to search for her missing father and teacher. Qin Heng had originally thought these two were long dead; he hadn't expected to find them frozen into ice sculptures beneath Asgard's great snow mountain.
That's right, these ice sculptures were not ice sculptures in the true sense.
Just now Qin Heng had already used his Divine Sense to confirm it: sealed within these ice sculptures were all humans. These were people frozen into ice sculptures, not works made lifelike by exquisite craftsmanship, but because they had originally been people!
"Why, why is this happening, why did Dad and Teacher become ice sculptures, why!?" Elisa's emotions were still on the verge of collapse. She kept struggling, trying to break free of Qin Heng and throw herself at those two ice sculptures.
Qin Heng frowned slightly, raised his palm, and gathered a streak of golden light between his fingers, tapping it onto the center of Elisa's brow. It was a Spell that could clear one's mind.
"Mm!!" Elisa let out a low groan, and her previously clouded eyes instantly regained clarity. Her collapsing emotions gradually steadied. In the end she stared blankly at the ice sculptures before her, numbly staggered back a few steps, and muttered under her breath, "It's not real, this isn't real. Dad and Teacher are such powerful Magicians, they won't die, they won't die!!"
"Who said they were dead?" Qin Heng suddenly spoke, saying to Elisa, "These people are actually still alive."
"What, still alive!?" At his words Elisa suddenly looked up, staring at Qin Heng in disbelief. "You, is what you're saying true? My dad, my teacher, they're both still alive!?"
"That's right." Qin Heng nodded and said, "After being frozen, their bodily functions have indeed stopped, but they're not ordinary people. Under the maintenance of Transcendent power, they're actually all still alive.
In fact, being frozen may not be a bad thing for them. If they were exposed to the outside environment at such ultra-low temperatures, they definitely wouldn't have lasted until now and would have been frozen to death. The ice seal can be considered a layer of insulation."
"Th-then that means my dad and teacher can still be saved. As long as we break these ice seals, they can come back to life?" Elisa looked at Qin Heng in wild delight, then immediately dropped to her knees on the ground, saying, "I beg you, please, save my dad and my teacher. As long as you agree, I'm willing to do anything, I'll agree to any request you make!"
Whooo, whooo!!
At this moment, a violent wind suddenly erupted between heaven and earth, as if it could sweep across the world. The howling gale seemed to make mountains tremble and the earth shake!!
Those statues began to tremble as well, as though they might topple to the ground at any moment.
"No!!" Elisa was instantly scared out of her wits and tried to rush over again to hold up those statues, to keep them from falling. She was afraid the statues would shatter and harm the people inside.
"Hahahaha! You foolish humans!"
Suddenly, amid the howling storm, a burst of wild laughter rang out. It came from the sky, incomparably arrogant, incomparably loud, like peals of thunder exploding, deafening, even drowning out the wind that was shaking heaven and earth.
