"What medication is this?" the director asked casually.

Generally, the amount of medication needed before surgery is calculated in advance, unless there’s a special circumstance requiring an emergency dispatch from the pharmacy.

"Glucose," the nurse explained. "Director Ji has a bit of low blood sugar, so we prepared some glucose in advance for emergencies."

"This Ji Chuan..." the director understood that Ji’s surgery schedule was very full these past few days. "If it really gets too much, just take a break! Why push himself to the point of low blood sugar?"

If a doctor were to experience low blood sugar during surgery, it could be very serious. What if an accident happened and the patient was harmed?

The nurse passed the medication through the crack of the door, and the director immediately inquired about the situation inside.

"The surgery is going smoothly! Don’t worry."

In Ji Chuan’s office, there were generally no valuable items or important documents, just some medical books, so he rarely locked the door.

Moreover, the lock was a pain to use. Once locked, it took quite an effort to unlock the door, which made him dislike locking it even more.

Usually, when colleagues from the hospital came looking for Ji Chuan, they’d just push the door open for a peek. If he wasn’t there, they’d leave; they wouldn’t normally hang around for long.

After a few seconds of consideration, she thought it best not to answer.

Unexpectedly, the phone kept ringing incessantly, one call after another, never ending.

Qiu Xinyi wondered if it might be an urgent matter for the phone to be ringing non-stop. She worried about what might happen if Ji Chuan missed an important call.
