OverviewThe Laethrun Vein is a subsurface geological formation stretching for hundreds of kilometers beneath the Wilds. It is not a single tunnel but a moving network of water-filled fissures that open and seal themselves over time. Maps of it are unreliable beyond weeks. The water is always present, but the path is never the same.

Miners describe the sensation of entering the Vein as stepping into something already in motion.

The Water

The water is clear, cold, and aggressively buoyant. Objects dropped into it float unnaturally high, sometimes refusing to submerge at all.

Prolonged exposure causes muscle weakness and a persistent sensation of lightness. Some explorers report difficulty judging weight days after leaving the Vein, dropping tools or stumbling on stairs.

The Flow

The current does not follow gravity. It accelerates in flat stone, slows on slopes, and sometimes reverses direction without warning.

Mouth-Stones: Sessile lifeforms mistaken for rock until they close.
