Chapter 984 986: Date (2)

Riya's eyes shone as she watched the scenery in front of her.

For people who have experienced destruction of the world and the suffering of being unable to eat, what they longed the most was to have enough food to eat and drink all year long.

And this was what most people on the Green Planet felt.

Before the trade could be opened, every areas had to rely on the little food that they could find nearby.

They didn't have the chance to eat more or find food from further areas.

Because there were magic beasts between the roads.

It was terrifying.

Not everyone was powerful enough to deal with these magic beasts as they were people struggling at the bottom. For them, being able to eat and drink enough would be more than enough.

They didn't have any lofty dream whatsoever.

And life had already taught them hard that the most important thing for them right now was simply to have enough food to fill their stomach.

Otherwise, they wouldn't even know how they were going to live.

There were so many magic beasts around and not all of them could be eaten. They had to trade with the base for contribution points and many people didn't have enough contribution points to live well.

It was difficult.

So when Continent Z started to produce a lot of food, it basically gave them more hope.

The price of food decreased in various bases and people were excited about this. Because this meant that the pressure for them to collect the contribution points had decreased and they could start to think about having better and more delicious food.

With better life, they also felt much better.

"Is this to feed the entire Continent Z?" Riya asked jokingly after staring for a while.

"Of course not." Samuel laughed. "The land here is not enough even though the formation will make the food ripe faster. There are other bases who also opened up the areas around them for planting. In this way, it's possible to feed everyone on Continent Z."

He didn't see it himself, though.

After all, Samuel has only been back to Continent Z for a short period of time. But his father told him about this matter since he felt that it would be better for his son to be aware of these things.

Riya nodded.

"Shall we continue?" Samuel asked, gentle smile formed on his face.

"Let's walk around for a bit," Riya replied and held Samuel's hand tighter.

This kind of peaceful time...

She hoped that it could last longer.

...

Walking along the street on City A Base, Samuel and Riya looked at various things that have changed ever since their departure last year.

"The officials have restored their communication channel?" Riya asked in surprise. She did hear that the relationship between the higher ups were quite good, but she didn't expect that they would have managed to do this.

"Combining technology and some trinkets from Leon," Samuel replied. "Did you not see him before coming back?"

"...No, I only see Claire." Riya looked away.

She couldn't say that she forgot all about Leon, right?

Because in her eyes, Leon is Claire's husband and if there was no official business, she had no intention of bothering him.

Samuel chuckled.

Poor Leon.

So easily forgotten like that.

Then again, Samuel knew that Riya was not interested in politics and even if she wanted something that Leon made, it had to go through the officials from Continent Z and Continent X who had made an agreement with each other.

Otherwise, it would be an international problem.

...Though Riya really didn't want to think about anything else.

She was not close to Leon and rather than making trouble by asking in personal capacity, it would be better for her to talk with Samuel's father if she ever want something.

"Well, I'm not exactly sure how Leon did it, but he managed to create some tools that could help the communication between continents to recover faster. Some areas are still hard to reach, though, and the road hadn't been fully reconstructed because of lack of manpower," Samuel explained.

Riya blinked her eyes.

She knew that the Green Planet was really big.

Coupled with the fact that many people had died because of the appearance of those cracks and the magic beasts, Riya felt that it would take a long time for the Green Planet to recover.

Destruction is really fast.

But reconstruction always took a long time.

Sometimes... one really hoped that the destruction would have not happened in the first place.

Seeing so many people died and the entire Green Planet change because of it could be quite painful.

"He's quite handy," Riya commented.

"Perhaps you can also develop your runes so you can use it alongside science," Samuel joked.

Combining runes with science?

Riya arched her eyebrows when she heard Samuel's suggestion.

Thinking about the fact that rune masters and weapon refiner did have cooperate with each other in the past, it was actually not a bad suggestions. But Riya felt that she would have reconstruct a lot of runes in order to fit together with various ordinary tools.

Swish!

A phone appeared in Riya's hand.

"Hmm?" Samuel looked at Riya and blinked his eyes.

He was just kidding.

Riya wouldn't take his words seriously, right?

The next seconds, faint light glowed from Riya's hand and a beautiful runes appeared on the backside of the phones. It seemed as if it had been engraved a long time ago even though Riya had only taken out her phone.

"Instant formation?" Samuel muttered.

The speed in which Riya drew her runes had become even faster by now. Even Samuel couldn't catch how Riya managed to draw the runes on the back of her phone so quickly.

"It's not exactly instant," Riya said as she flipped her phone and turned it on. "But I guess I increased my spell casting speed so that I can fight more efficiently in the future."
