Chapter 683: Chapter 683 - Abyssal Chain

Inside the royal castle.

A regal man in his late fifties walked calmly through the grand halls, flanked by two knights who followed a step behind. His long, flowing blond hair framed a calm and composed demeanor, and he wore opulent green robes adorned with intricate gold embroidery.

The man came to a halt as he stepped into a vast hall. There, standing before him, was a group of players who seemed like they were waiting for him.

The man's lips curled into a faint smile as he lifted his chin slightly. "Well, look who we have here."

"Lord Demian..." one of the players addressed him. She was a woman with flowing red hair, clad in sleek, form-fitting leather armor and a crimson cloak that rippled lightly as she moved.

"Marlene..." Demian replied.

"You certainly look every bit as dignified as expected in that outfit," Marlene said.

"Thank you for the compliment," Demian responded with a slight smile.

Marlene offered a faint smile in return. "Do you, for some reason, feel the need to check the situation outside?"

"Yes..." Demian replied. "That's why I intend to step outside-to see the state of things myself."

He paused for a moment, and then continued. "I want to check on my dear brother... He is, after all, facing a guest from Hell. Who was it again...? Ah, yes-Prince Stolas. The King is dealing with him now. How could I possibly sit idly here alone while such... important events are taking place outside?"

Marlene's expression remained composed, though her eyes narrowed slightly.

"There are thousands of demons attacking outside the city walls," Marlene continued, her voice calm.

"That is certainly troubling news," Demian replied.

"Four Named Demons, all ranked in the 50s, are battling against those defending the city," Marlene added.

"Will they be able to hold the line?" Demian asked.

"The strongest forces trying to protect the city are beginning to fall," Marlene answered.

"That's... truly heartbreaking news," Demian said softly. "But what of my brother? What is the latest word on him?"

"The King has fought valiantly," Marlene replied, "but it seems Prince Stolas is stronger than what the King can overcome."

Demian shook his head slowly, exhaling as though weary. "I can't bear to hear any more of this."

A tense silence hung between them, thick and oppressive in the vast hall.

Finally, Marlene spoke again. "The summoning will soon expire, and the demons will be sent back to Hell."

An archer stepped up beside Marlene. "Marlene, this guy destroyed the contract we made and conspired with King Bael behind our backs."

"Damn it... have we been betrayed?" Someone hissed.

"What a load of bullshit. This is a mess," another player grumbled.

"It's not too late. If we take him down now, we can still stop this," the archer added.

Demian responded with a faint, amused smile and offered them a shallow bow. "My apologies, Marlene," he said smoothly, taking a step back. "I'm a little busy at the moment, so I'll leave you to chat with my two knights here."

Before anyone could react, Demian's figure shimmered and vanished from sight, leaving only

the two knights stepping forward to take his place.

"Marlene, what should we do?" one of them asked urgently.

"Kill these two knights, and then we'll hunt down Demian," Marlene replied firmly.

"Damn it! How the fuck did Demian betray us like this?"

"This is such a mess-this betrayal hurts."

"What kind of sly, underhanded scheme is that bastard planning?"

Two massive shadow wolves materialized behind the groups. Marlene gripped her whip

tightly. "I think Demian intends to become the vessel for the descent of King Bael. Whatever he plans to summon through that massive portal will bring unimaginable destruction. He may not even truly want the throne of Dissidia Kingdom. He's aiming for something far

greater."

"No way... Marlene... the number one Named Demon? King Bael?"

"This can't be serious," another muttered, shaking their head.

"We've been stabbed in the back... Damn it!"

"Won't this become a massive problem for us too?"

"Damn it, this Demian bastard can't be allowed to live!"

"Enough!" Marlene snapped. Her whip cracked sharply as she stepped forward. "Now let's

take down these two knights!"

The shadow wolves snarled as the two knights raised their weapons.

The real fight was only just beginning.
