Chapter 321 You Might Pick Up Stalkers In The Black Market

Chapter 321 You Might Pick Up Stalkers In The Black Market

Well, I was expecting too much obviously because I didn't see any other good deals in the market.

That's not to say that everything else is overpriced but the profit margins were too low for me to consider taking them.

The other reason why I wasn't taking them was also because some of them would only be profitable if I were to trade them in Theeve. That area is off limits for us right now in case the people after Mara were searching there.

Unfortunately, the knowledge of the market is quite limited at the moment since we have not visited a lot of stations yet so I don't know a lot of the market prices for stuff.

Even Mara doesn't have the most up to date prices though she did offer to help me find out through her contacts. I ended up rejecting her offer since I didn't think it was worth her using a favour over, especially when it's not like we're in desperate need of Credits at the moment anyway.

I still noted down the prices anyway just in case I need to refer to them in the future.

Since my business was done, I went back to my ship to prepare for the transaction with those organic food thieves.

At least now I know why they were going around stealing organic food from before I guess.

I left through the same door I had come from and the guards at the checkpoint let me pass without a word.

When I emerged from the nightclub again, the same girl was still leaning against the side of the lift and she seemed quite surprised by my presence.

"Done so soon?" She asked.

"Well, I just needed to list my goods on the terminal and then do a bit of research on the prices so I didn't need a lot of time. I wasn't really looking to buy anything after all."

"Hmm... Pity. Not even interested in the stalls huh?"

I shook my head, "Not this time. Maybe I might come back to take another look after I've made my sale. Why? Was there something interesting down there?"

"I dunno. But people setting up stalls and selling stuff there is the main way of our market doing business so of course we'd prefer if you did that."

Right... I remember that's because while there's no tax for independent traders like myself when we're trading there, anyone who sets up a stall to sell their goods there would have to contribute a small percentage of their sales to the gang.

Seeing that one transaction can be more than several hundreds of thousands of Credits, a small percentage of that would still be quite a lot of money.

I waved at her, "Well, sorry but not today I guess. Maybe I'll come back again once I'm done with this."

"If you want, we can sign you up with a stall plan with our group. Starting price is four thousand five hundred Credits but if you want prime spots it would be more expensive."

Maybe I should just intentionally go to a secluded area to deal with those guys? That sounds like a plan.

As I was looking for a place that I could lead these people to deal with, a group of people suddenly turned around the corner and started running in my direction.

I stopped, my hand immediately reaching for my pistol right before a gunshot came from behind me.

I thought that was meant for me but the bullet had whizzed past me and struck one of the newcomers in the head, killing him instantly.

I turned back and I realised there was another group of people who had turned around the corner behind me and were currently charging towards the group in front of me.

What the fuck?!

I dove into the alleyway to my right just as the two groups started firing at each other, their bullets narrowly missing me as I sought cover in that alley.

Looking back outside the alley, I was expecting the other passers-by to start panicking at the sudden shootout but most of them either looked up at the scene before continuing to walk normally or stopped to watch the shootout.

That was when I remembered what kind of place I was at and I most likely got caught in a gang fight between two different gangs.

There was a roar as one of the gangs ran past the alley I had dove into, charging straight towards the opposing gang without a shred of fear.

One of them even stopped to take cover at my alley to reload his gun, his gaze turning to me for a moment before realising I was not a threat and just completely ignored me and ran out again.

I let out the breath that I had been unconsciously holding and relaxed a little.

Seems like I didn't even need to worry after all. The fight outside should have made my stalkers give up on the chase.

Just as I was getting back up on my feet, footsteps came from the entrance of the alley again and the five guys I had tagged earlier appeared there, blocking my way out.

I immediately looked behind me to see if there was another way out but unfortunately for me, this alley led to a dead end.

The alley wasn't exactly that wide and the only cover I had was a pile of discarded boxes a few steps behind me that didn't look sturdy enough to withstand more than a few shots.

Ah well... I was already intending to deal with them anyway... The only problem is that I would have liked to pick a place where I could have an advantage over them environmentally... Although I guess this place isn't that bad for me anyway.

I quickly tapped on my Codex one last time before turning to face the group of five men, all of them slowly advancing towards me with what I realised was a crazed look in their eyes.

Why are they looking at me like that?
