Chapter 86 Into The Armoury
"man... that guy just ate shit..." amber muttered, peeking out from the closet from above me.
i had to agree with her on that.
well... at least he opened the way for us... so maybe we can just go and peek inside and see how many pirates there are.
just as i was about to step out of the closet, the sound of metal screeching coming from the side prompted me to duck back into the closet again.
looking to the side, i saw the minigun guy pushing away parts of the wall that had been destroyed by the blast before he stood back up. he even dusted his shoulder casually before hefting his minigun and started revving it up.
there was a shout coming from inside the armoury before the minigun started shooting a rain of bullets at the pirates inside.
the merc even started walking into the armoury without an ounce of fear despite the pirates shooting back at him. i'm guessing that shield of his must be pretty strong since it's tanking everything that was being shot at him right now.
something flew towards him again and i noticed that his shield seemed to solidify for a moment before the projectile hit him, exploding against the shield without tossing him back this time.
he then pointed his arm at the pirates and launched an explosive at them as well, blasting whoever he was aiming at to bits.
that was all i saw before he strutted into the armoury, though the sounds of gunshots still continued.
"hey, that guy's taking all our kills!" amber huffed.
err... i wouldn't say he was taking all our kills since it wasn't like we could have dealt with those pirates inside easily anyway...
"should we follow him?" i asked.
"of course! we should snatch the pirate lord while he's busy with the small fries! let's go!"
i don't know if i want to piss that guy off though... i think it'll be quite terrifying to see someone like him chasing after me...
as though my thoughts had showed itself on my face, amber quickly wrapped her arm around my shoulder.
"don't worry, tera! if that fucker gets any ideas, i'll deal with him!"
... what was i supposed to do but nod my head?
we both got out of the closet before sneaking our way towards the armoury that was now missing a door because of the first explosion.
peeking inside, i saw the minigun merc still mowing down pirates that were shooting at him relentlessly from behind cover.
it seems like they really tried to fortify this place by using shelves, boxes and other furniture to form a barricade facing towards the door to shoot from.
there were already a number of the pirates that were either dead or dying left around the armoury but there were still a large number of pirates remaining inside.
yeah... i'm quite sure that amber and i would have quite a bit of trouble clearing this armoury on our own had we chosen to rush in there...
i looked at the golden haired merc behind me, "still think it was a good idea to charge in?"
the merc growled but he could not back down from his position as the pirate lord started pushing back, forcing him in that position where the other pirates could freely shoot at him to wear down his shields.
as strong as his shield was, i don't think it can last under sustained fire forever.
"should we help him?" i asked.
amber stirred, "hmm? what? oh. i dunno."
i then realised she had pulled out some food out of nowhere and started munching on them.
"is that... the snack i made for us before we came here?"
"yeah~ i couldn't bear the thought of eating it all at once so i kept some to munch on later~ who knew i would find the perfect reason to do it right here?"
i pulled out my shotgun, "come on, let's go help him before that guy dies and then we have to deal with all of those pirates ourselves!"
she dusted her hands before pulling out her pistols, "right behind you~"
i rushed in through the doors and started shooting at the pirates that were behind the pirate lord, nailing three in the head quickly before they even registered my presence.
amber leapt towards the pirate lord and used him as a springboard to jump over the pirates hiding behind their cover, spinning around in the air and shooting her pistols at the same time.
six pirates went down even before she landed and she dove to the side to avoid a pirate shooting back at her.
i slid past the barricade and pointed my shotgun at the guy who tried to shoot amber, pulling the trigger and blowing him back to slam against the barricade.
the other pirates then switched their target from the minigun merc to us but i used their own barricades against them to avoid their shots.
amber wasn't even that concerned as she flitted around the armoury, popping out to take a shot that would kill a pirate before ducking back again to reposition herself.
whenever she got their attention, i would pop out and fire my shotgun to blow several pirates away before ducking back down again to load in more shells.
slowly, we managed to clear the rest of the pirates in the room until the pirate lord was the only one left.
i was just about to let out a sigh of relief when the pirate lord shouted out a curse at us.
"you fuckers!! you'll pay for this!!"
a bust of electricity came from his power armour which blew the merc stumbling back.
he then raised his hammer and brought it down on the merc, who had his arms raised in an attempt to block it.
that didn't go well for him as the sledgehammer completely crushed through his arms and tore off his limbs.
the pirate lord then spun around and smashed the sledgehammer into the side of the merc's face, decapitating the guy.
