Chapter 1170: Awakening
Before long, Liu Qing opened his eyes as he said, "I don't care how much you detest human cultivators and how much you resent Han Li, make sure to treat him with respect from now on, do you hear me?"
"Are you saying that he's still in our settlement?" Elder Qiu asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Do I make myself clear? Do I need to repeat myself?" Liu Qing snapped as a furious look resurfaced in his eyes.
"No, there's no need for that, you've made yourself perfectly clear, Chief Liu," Elder Qiu hurriedly replied.
Liu Qing gave another cold harrumph and paid no further heed to Elder Qiu.
He had agreed to keep Bai Ze's visit a secret, so he couldn't reveal the situation to Elder Qiu. He could only hope that Elder Qiu was going to heed his warning. Otherwise, he would have to resort to some forceful measures.
......
In the Heavenly Fox Tribe's guest hall.
Following Liu Qing's departure, Bai Ze immediately said, "I heard that you've brought an Ink-Eyed Pixiu with you to Eight Plains Mountain. Would I be able to see him, Fellow Daoist Han?"
"Of course, please wait a moment, Senior," Han Li replied.
At this point, he had no choice but to comply, so he quickly brought Xiao Bai out of the Flower Branch domain, and the latter was still in an unconscious state.
A hint of excitement instantly surfaced in his eyes at the sight of Xiao Bai, and he murmured to himself, "It really is an Ink-Eyed Pixiu, and it's his son as well! The heavens have truly smiled upon me."
"It sounds like you're familiar with Xiao Bai, Senior Bai Ze. I've tried to awaken him from his unconscious state, but to no avail," Han Li said.
"His name is Xiao Bai, is it? If I'm not mistaken, he's the offspring of a close friend of mine, the Ink-Eyed Pixiu True Spirit King. Many years ago, he was attacked by several Heavenly Court Dao Ancestors and lost his life in that battle, I didn't think that he still had surviving offspring.
“Thank you for bringing him to Eight Plains Mountain, Fellow Daoist Han. As for his injuries, I'm perhaps the only one in the primordial land capable of treating them," Bai Ze replied.
"Xiao Bai is a friend of mine, so it's only right that I brought him here for treatment," Han Li said, and at the same time, he was feeling a little more reassured, giving the bond that Bai Ze shared with Xiao Bai's father.
Han Li hadn't asked for anything in return for delivering Xiao Bai to Eight Plains Mountain, and an appreciative smile appeared on Bai Ze's face upon seeing this. He swept a sleeve through the ai to release a burst of white light that carried Xiao Bai to him, following which he produced a crimson pill with a series of white patterns on it, ones that were both similar and different from the patterns on dao pills.
The white patterns formed an image of a white beast that was very similar in appearance to Xiao Bai's Pixiu form.
Han Li's eyes lit up slightly at the sight of the crimson pill, but before he could take a closer look, the pill had already flown into Xiao Bai's mouth with unerring accuracy at Bai Ze's behest.
After that, Bai Ze rested a finger against Xiao Bai's forehead, and a burst of translucent light emerged from his fingertip. Countless black runes were flashing within the translucent light, and they surged into Xiao Bai's glabella in a continuous stream.
All of a sudden, Xiao Bai's body began to tremble while giving off rings of expanding white light, and he began to moan in pain, but his eyes remained closed.
A hint of concern appeared in Han Li's upon seeing this, but he knew that it was best not to interrupt the process.
"Yes, Father," Lekima hurriedly replied, and Bai Ze vanished from the spot, much to Han Li's relief.
Xiao Bai glanced back and forth between Han Li and Lekima for a moment, and even though he was still yet to fully understand the situation that he was in, he knew not to ask any questions with Lekima present.
As soon as Bai Ze departed, Lekima was instantly back to his usual relaxed self, and he smiled as he said, "It looks like Father is quite fond of you. I've never seen him look out for anyone else like this."
"Truth be told, I feel a little uneasy to have received a personal visit from Senior Bai Ze," Han Li admitted.
"What's there to be uneasy about? Don't worry, Father wouldn't plot against you like Liu Qing," Lekima reassured as he gave Han Li a pat on the shoulder. "By the way, what are your plans from here onward?
“There's still some time left until the commencement of the blood inheritance ceremony, and seeing as Xiao Bai is the son of the Ink-Eyed Pixiu, he'll have to take part as well. It seems to me like Father wants you to stay and take part in the ceremony as well."
"Senior Bai Zi wants me to take part in the blood inheritance ceremony?" Han Li asked with a surprised expression, and thinking back to Bai Ze's words and attitude from earlier, it seemed that he did indeed have such intentions.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Han Li said, "I'm honored by the invitation, but I'm afraid that I can't give a verdict on whether I'll attend the ceremony or not right away."
At the moment, Jin Tong was still trapped in the Nine Origins Temple, so he had to ask Xiao Bai about the situation there before he could make a decision on whether to stay in the primordial land or leave.
"Of course. Are you going to continue to stay here, or would you like me to arrange another place for you to stay?" Lekima asked with a smile.
"The Heavenly Fox Tribe doesn't seem to be very welcoming of me, so I'll have to trouble you to find me some other place to live," Han Li replied.
"No problem, leave it to me," Lekima promised, and the two of them departed from the hall together.
Due to the special nature of Xiao Bai's identity, he had been ushered back into the Flower Branch domain by Han Li.
Right at this moment, the two of them were approached by Liu Qing, who asked with a warm smile, "Are you leaving, Young Master? Has His Majesty already left?"
"I haven't seen Fellow Daoist Han for a very long time, so I want to take him to my residence to stay with me for a few days. Will that be fine with you, Chief Liu?" Lekima asked.
"Of course! You're welcome to return to our Heavenly Fox Tribe at any time, Fellow Daoist Han," Liu Qing replied.
Han Li responded with a curt nod, then quickly departed with Lekima.
Liu Qing personally accompanied the two to the entrance of the settlement, then watched as they departed before heaving a faint sigh.
Han Li was led to a peaceful courtyard that was filled with lush greenery by Lekima, who said, "You won't be disturbed by anyone here. I have arranged for people to stand on lookout duty outside, and if you need anything, feel free to tell them."
Han Li was very pleased with this place, and he nodded in response.
It seemed that Lekima had other matters to attend to, and he only stayed for a short while before departing.
